CDL 2021 Power Rankings After Stage 5 Week 2

Here are our updated CDL 2021 Power Rankings.

Stage 5 continued with some brilliant matches this week. With underdogs surprising, OpTic finally taking down FaZe and much more, here are our updated Power Rankings following Stage 5 Week 2.

12. Los Angeles Guerrillas (-)

The LA Guerrillas remain in their 12th place spot in our Power Rankings following a 0-3 and 1-3 loss this week. They continue to look uncompetitive and unfortunately will likely finish Stage 5 with an 0-5 record.

11. Seattle Surge (-2)

Seattle Surge’s struggles continue online as they suffered back-to-back 0-3 defeats in Week 2. While they may return to form at the Major, their online performances haven't been good enough, and Surge sits 0-3 in Stage 5 so far.

10. Paris Legion (+1)

Paris Legion took down the LA Thieves 3-1 this week in a match that shocked the CDL. While they lost Map One, Paris went on to completely dominate the remaining maps, and secure a 3-1 series win. However, with nothing left to play for, this match means little to nothing for Paris Legion.

9. London Royal Ravens (+1)

The Ravens' only match this week saw them take on a wounded New York Subliners. Surprisingly, they managed to take a 3-2 victory, however, with Champs out of the picture, this win hurts NYSL more than it helps the Ravens.

8. New York Subliners (-3)

Currently 0-3 in Stage 5, the New York Subliners have taken a complete U-turn on their upwards trajectory for the season. Since the readdition of Asim to the roster, NYSL has struggled to find form, and with just the Major left, they need to go 2-0 in Week 3.

7. LA Thieves (-)

While the LA Thieves went 2-0 in Week 1, they suffered a 1-3 defeat to Paris Legion this week, possibly stopping their chances of a Winner's Bracket start at the Major. This could’ve been due to the Thieves underestimating Paris, or there could be deeper issues within the squad.

6. Minnesota ROKKR (+2)

Minnesota ROKKR continues to have an extremely average Stage 5 after a 3-0 victory, and 1-3 loss in Week 2. While the top four teams seem to be a struggle for them, the remaining teams are no match for ROKKR, and they can easily dominate. However, if they wish to win the Major, this needs to change.

5. Florida Mutineers (+1)

The Florida Mutineers competed a 2-0 week following a 3-1 win over Dallas Empire, and a 3-1 win over the LA Guerrillas. The Mutineers look great, and while their win over Dallas was helped by Empire’s poor plays, this gives the Mutineers great confidence and could set them up to be a dark horse in Major 5.

4. Dallas Empire (-1)

Dallas Empire may have defeated Minnesota ROKKR 3-1 to round out Week 2, but their 1-3 loss to the Mutineers earlier in the week sees them move down to 4th. Empire needs to return to their Major 4 performance in Major 5 and stay consistent if they want to compete at Champs.

3. OpTic Chicago (+1)

OpTic Chicago successfully managed to defeat Atlanta FaZe for the first time since the start of the COD League. This was an excellent match, one where Envoy completely dominated. One major strategy to win this match was Envoy matching the aggression of aBeZy. This worked flawlessly, and OpTic could be gaining momentum at the right time ahead of the Major.

2. Toronto Ultra (-)

Toronto Ultra had an easy week with back-to-back 3-0’s, sitting on a current nine-map win streak. Ultra looks at their best without a doubt, and yet again it’s Cammy who is completely dominating the map.

1. Atlanta FaZe (-)

Even after their defeat, Atlanta FaZe remains at the top of our Power Rankings. Their loss to OpTic was only their fifth of the year, and if anything it will cause FaZe to come back stronger, so their next opponents should be worried.
