COD: Seattle Surge Defeats Atlanta FaZe In Incredible Major 5 Matchup

The 12th place team defeats #1 at Major 5.

Over the past three days, the final Major of the 2021 Call of Duty League season has been incredible. With some big upsets, dominant performances and amazing plays, Major 5 has without a doubt been the best yet.

The biggest scalp comes in Seattle Surge’s 3-2 victory over Atlanta FaZe, seeing the #12 team in the league defeat the top dogs. The match was dominated by Nicholas “Classic” DiCostanzo as he put up a 1.14 overall K/D and completely took over in the Search and Destroy.

The Surge came out hot with the force of the fans behind them, defeating FaZe 250-174 on Moscow Hardpoint to kick off the series. This wasn’t expected by any means, but the mapset of Moscow, Express, Garrison, Raid and Standoff gave Seattle Surge a great chance in the series, and they took advantage.

While Atlanta FaZe bounced back in Maps Two and Three, taking a 6-2 victory on Express and 3-1 win on Garrison. Seattle Surge replied with a 250-232 Raid Hardpoint win as they overcame a 50 point deficit from the break.

The final map saw Surge avoid two streaks from the side of FaZe and secure the series win with a 6-4 Game Five. Classic dominated with a 2.00 K/D, including some massive plays and clutches to close out the map.

While Seattle Surge has undoubtedly proved themselves on LAN, this will unfortunately be their last rodeo for 2021, with the bottom four teams missing out on Champs. Surge and the rest of the league have voiced their displeasure of this format, and their victory here proves their ability to compete with the best on LAN.
