Wendy Williams is recovering and getting ready to make her return to the purple chair after she was diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID-19.
A source told Entertainment Tonight, “Wendy is home and improving every day.” The 57-year-old is reportedly back on the path to make her grand comeback to The Wendy Williams Show next month to kick off the new season.
Williams has had a tumultuous month after battling coronavirus and having to postpone the original September 20 launch of season 13 of the chat show. The former radio jockey's team has now rescheduled the launch date to October 4.
This comes as a positive update for Williams as her devoted Wendy watchers have wondered if she would make a full recovery in time for the premiere. As OK! previously reported, the media personality was originally expected to be evaluated "for weeks."
An insider told The Sun doctors wanted to keep an eye on the broadcaster to "determine what is going on with her, both mentally and physically.”
After Williamstested positive for coronavirus, her team put out a statement on her show's official Instagram page that read, "To allow Wendy time to quarantine and fully recover and to ensure that our production abides by the SAG/AFTRA and DGA Covid protocols, we expect to begin the 13th season of The Wendy Williams Show on Monday, October 4th. In the meantime, repeats will be scheduled."
Prior to her diagnosis, the Lifetime movie producer's team announced via Instagram that Williams was backing out of promotional obligations for the upcoming season to take care of her health.
The statement read, “Wendy is dealing with some ongoing health issues and is undergoing further evaluations. She will not be able to complete her promotional activities next week, but can’t wait to be back in her purple chair on Monday, September 20th for the 13th season premiere."
