Troubles brewing over at The Wendy Williams Show!
After the season 13 premiere was pushed back — yet again — as host Wendy Williams is in the middle of a health crisis, sources are spilling already annoyed staffers are abandoning her.
“Wendy staff are looking for new jobs,” a source spilled to The Sun. “They don’t believe she will ever come back.”
The insider continued: “It's a mass exodus. They are trying to get out before the ship sinks.”
It’s a tough call for the staffers though as the source noted the show does fairly well in the ratings, meaning their job is semi-secure if she were to keep going.
“Her numbers are good. She’s no Oprah [Winfrey] but her show is cheap and she beats Tamron Hall,” they said, adding staffers “are pissed” the show keeps getting delayed. “She’s ruining this for everyone.”
Wendy was originally slated to premiere on September, 20, but the date had to be pushed back after the 57-year-old daytime diva contracted a breakthrough case of COVID-19.
Following her diagnosis of the deadly virus, Williams was hospitalized for “psychiatric services” earlier this month.
The Ask Wendy: Straight-Up Advice for All the Drama In Your Life author was released from a Manhattan hospital last week and thought to be on the mend, until days before the season premiere a statement went out contradicting that notion.
“Wendy will not be returning with new shows on Oct. 4,” an announcement from the talk show's official Instagram account read on Thursday, September 30. “She has been and continues to be under a doctor’s care and is still not ready to return to work.”
“Her breakthrough COVID case is no longer an issue and she has tested negative,” the message continued, “but she is still dealing with some ongoing medical issues.” The new start date for the beloved daytime talk show is now set for Monday, October 18.
Staffers concerns over their unemployment may be valid as OK! learned the former radio host could “walk away” from the show all together, with a source dishing, “she’s over it.”
