Duane ‘Dog’ Chapmanbelieves he has learned new details regarding Gabby Petito’s relationship with Brian Laundrie.
In an interview with The Sun, the TV personality claimed to know that Petito was “very verbal” during alleged altercations with Laundrie, who is suspected to have been physically abusive to his now-deceased fiancée.
Chapman, the star of Dog the Bounty Hunter, has been on the lookout for the 23-year-old fugitive who went missing after he returned from a cross-country trip without Petito.
Just days after Laundrie was last seen, the 22-year-old YouTuber was found dead in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, where the pair had been traveling weeks before.
Now Chapman believes he has discovered telling details about the couple’s relationship as part of the thousands of tips he’s received regarding the case.
“As they were arguing one time, the vacationers around them heard her yelling,” Chapman explained in the interview. “I know that he calmed her down usually by grabbing her mouth like that,” he said while imitating the action and aggressively grabbing his own cheeks.
“When you grab someone’s mouth like that, they’re verbal,” he continued. “So we have another thing that says she was loud, she was verbal.”
As OK! previously reported, Laundrie and Petito were pulled over back in August following a 911 caller who claimed to have seen the fugitive allegedly hitting Petito.
The body camera footage from the police officers at the scene of the incident showed a sobbing Petito claiming that Laundrie had grabbed her face and left a cut on her cheek after trying to get her to “shut up.”
Chapman appears to be taking into consideration the contents of the body camera footage along with tip calls to make the claim that the relationship was abusive — and he has no doubt that Laundrie had something to do with her murder.
“I think that something happened, of course he murdered her,” Chapman told the outlet. "I think he called the mom and dad right from the scene."
The famed bounty hunter previously expressed the bold theory that Laundrie could be a serial killer because of his “demonic past.”
“I’m thinking more and more about him being maybe a serial killer, not just a killer of Gabby,” he said last week.
He also insisted that the fugitive’s choice in literature could be the reason for his allegedly violent actions.
“This is what happens when your kid is looking at those kinds of things,” he said in reference to the dark books that Laundrie read. “He overnight just didn’t become a killer. A killer is made, and he is built to be or she, a killer.”
