Ed Sheeran Postpones All Public Appearances After Testing Positive For COVID-19

Ed Sheeran has officially postponed any upcoming shows, in-person interviews, and other public appearances after testing positive for COVID-19.

The English-born Grammy winner took to social media to let his fans know that he needed to take some time to self-isolate and get healthy before he could be take the stage again.

"Hey guys. Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines," the "Beautiful People" crooner began in a post to his Instagram.

"It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now." The songwriter went on to add that he is doing his best to stay on schedule and will fulfill as many obligations as he can over phone or video from his home, rather than face-to-face in order to abide by government guidelines. "Apologies to anyone I’ve let down. Be safe everyone x."

Fans were quick to jump in and offer love and support to the "Shape Of You" singer as his replies were flooded with wishes to "feel better" and "stay safe."

One user typed "Get well soon king ❤️" while another wrote in the comment section, "You better post daily updates cause I worry 😤."

This news comes days before his first album in two years is set to drop. The father-of-1's album Equal is currently scheduled for an October 29 release, which means the singer's plate had undoubtedly been full of promotional work and appearances.

Sheeran was also slated to appear as a "music mentor" on The Voice — though it is unknown if the appearance was entirely pre-taped — and was set to perform as the musical guest on the November 6 taping of Saturday Night Live.

It is presently unclear if he will be able to make his SNL performance, or if it will be postponed or canceled.
