Over my 12 years as an auto media Jedi Knight, I’ve seen a lot. And most of that comes with going to the SEMA Show. Just this past week, I’ve seen Tesla-swapped Chevy trucks, Chevy-swapped Teslas, pocket rocket pickup trucks, and even a V8-powered Ford Bronco race truck. But just when I’ve had my fill, along comes this thing sitting outside the Las Vegas Convention Center. And it’s… really something. Called the GT-SSC or “SuperSuper Car,” this mid-engined C5 Corvette-based beast features not one, but two LT4 V8 crate engines. The kinds we see in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, C7 Corvette Z06 and the new Chevy Beast Concept. Total displacement? 12.4-liters of fury.

The GT-SSC SuperSuper Car is a concoction created by hot-rodder Gordon Tronson, who is known for building twin-engined vehicles. But before the 2021 SEMA Show, this machine has been having its own road show across the country, previously being in attendance at none other than the 2021 Pebble Beach Concourse d’Elegance (though we think Woodward Dream Cruise might have been the better fit).
Total output of the mid-engined C5 Corvette-based SuperSuper car is 1,300 horsepower and 1,300 lb-ft of torque. It measures over 16 feet long, is over seven feet wide, and somehow weighs just 3,200 pounds. And like any two-headed monster, these twin LT4 engines require a bit of harmony to work together. Each engine comes with its own ECU, which work together to feed power to a single GM 4L60E automatic transmission. Getting each brain to work in tandem was Hot Wire Auto, which specializes in control units and wiring harnesses for totally custom hot rods.
Overall, its one of the wildest and most striking vehicles in attendance at the 2021 SEMA Show, emitting big, big Vector W12 vibes from its massive side vents. Hopefully we hear this thing fire up in person some day.
