これを英語で説明する場合は、まず、物を包むのに用いる正方形（に近い）布であることだけでなく、もとは入浴のとき湯殿に敷き、衣類を脱いで包んだり足をふいたりした布なので、風呂敷という漢字が使われていることを伝えましょう。
