JAY LENO TAKES THE FORD F-100 ELUMINATOR FOR A SPIN

Jay Leno continues to keep the automotive YouTuber masses up at night with the way he can grant himself exclusive access to vehicles that are far beyond anybody else’s reach. Suppose that happens when you have one of the biggest and most eclectic automobile collections in America. And following up on his adventures with the Hummer EV, the new 2023 Corvette Z06 and others Jay was most recently behind the wheel of the Ford F-100 Eluminator which made its debut at SEMA 2021.

Jay Leno And The Eluminator Ford F-100 Electric Pickup Truck

In the video, Jay is accompanied by Director of Future Electric Vehicles, Dave Pericak who walks him through the in’s and outs of the Eluminator. The F-100 Eluminator is built with components from the Mustang Mach-E GT performance edition hooked up to a custom chassis courtesy of Roadster Shop that sits under the 1978 body work of an F-100 pickup truck. Powering the F-100 is an all-electric crate motor, the Ford Performance Eluminator, which remains sold out, but is capable of 281 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque by itself. When coupled with the all-wheel drive system of the Mach-E and the two electric motors, the truck puts out 480 horsepower and 634 lb-ft of torque.

It should be noted that you’re on your own to piece together everything else, including finding the battery pack or some other source to power the motor. If building your own Eluminator is something you’re into, MC&T got step by step instructions from Roadster Shop themselves and you can check that out here.

“This is still hot-rodding, it’s (just) more efficient … it doesn’t always have to have an internal combustion engine” said Leno during his test drive of the 1978 F-100 resto-mod. The Mustang Mach-E which supplies a lot of the hardware for the F-100 is available now for a base price of $61,995 and is capable of 270 miles of range and a 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds.
