Many know the Tail of the Dragon as America’s number one motorcycle and sports car road as it features 318 curves across 11 miles without any intersections. The curves are sharp and are perfect for taking sports cars out and driving along the road for a bit of fun. It’s even an ideal place to test out Cadillac Escalade-V prototypes, as we see in a recent Instagram post by Killboydotcom.
Killboydotcom was working on preparing their store, which will open this weekend at the base of the hill for the Tail of the Dragon. While preparing, they watched as a semi-truck drove past and began ascending up the hill. Immediately after, GM and Cadillac prototypes came roaring down the road. In the video posted on Instagram, you can see a group of vehicles stopped at a gas station. From its looks, there are four Cadillacs and one camouflaged truck. As stated in the video, one of the Cadillac Escalades “sounded rowdy.” And hell yeah, it does sound rowdy.
2023 Cadillac Escalade-V:
The Cadillac Escalade-V will launch for the 2023 model year and will be the most potent gasoline-powered SUV General Motors has ever built. Under the hood will be GM’s 6.2L LT4 V8 engine, which has seen varying outputs from 640 hp in the third-generation CTS-V, to 650 hp in the Camaro ZL1, to 668 ponies in today’s CT5-V Blackwing. So we should see the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V with power output somewhere in that window.
Pricing for the supercharged Cadillac Escalade-V is expected to start well into the $100,000+ range. Production is set to begin with the 2023 model year out of the General Motors Arlington Assembly plant in Texas. And based on the official photos, the supercharged Escalade will not have a widebody design, nor will it incorporate a different set of tires from the standard model. It will only be identifiable from its subtle front fascia changes, a quartet of exhaust tips compared to just two, unique wheels, and not-so-subtle “V” badging on the sides.
We expect the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V to debut sometime around the New York Auto Show in April. So stay tuned for more big news on this high-octane, full-sized SUV.
