Ford just unveiled the new Ford Everest, and it likely won’t be long before people begin to wonder if it’ll be fused with the Ranger Raptor creating a Raptor SUV for everyone else outside of North America. The answer is, possibly as Ford won’t currently commit to building an Everest Raptor. However, Ford is keeping the option open, and while they might not have any immediate plans, it could happen one day.
Ford Everest Raptor: A Raptor SUV For Everyone Else?
The global chief engineer of the T6 platform, Ian Foston, spoke with Motor1.com at the Everest debut. After being asked if the new SUV was going to get the Raptor treatment or not, he stated that it’s not on the agenda for the time being, but that could change should there be enough customer interest to warrant a production version.
If a Ford Everest Raptor happened further down the line, it would likely feature the same 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 as the Ranger Raptor. The gasoline engine produces 392 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque in the truck. To compare, the Bronco Raptor paired with the same engine produces 400 ponies and 415 lb-ft of torque.
Raptorizing the Ford Everest would likely be a relatively low-cost endeavor as much of the engineering and tooling has already been earmarked for the Ranger Raptor, as they share the same platform: T6.2.
Like before, the Ford Ranger Raptor is headed to Europe, but it’ll have a significant power deficit due to emission regulations. The European version will produce just 288 horsepower and 362 lb-ft of torque from the twin-turbo V6. The Everest has never been sold in Europe, which likely won’t change.
The Ford Everest does offer a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel under the hood, and while Ford has yet to reveal its power output, we do know that it likely won’t be far off from what the Old Continent Ranger Raptor can produce. If that eventually comes to the table, there won’t be a Ford Everest or even an Everest Raptor in the US and Canada. But we will be getting the Ranger Raptor in 2023, and we most certainly consider that a win.
