HOMEBREW DODGE RAMPAGE TURNS A CHARGER MUSCLE CAR INTO A TRUCK

The Dodge Rampage is a classic car that had a concise life. While we won’t ever see car-style trucks return to the marketplace, they still have their niche of enthusiasts, which brings us to this Dodge Charger owner that transformed his muscle car into a Dodge Rampage.

We’ve gotten to see an assortment of digital renderings of the Dodge Charger that transform it into different things, and we admit that some are certainly cooler to look at than others. However, the Reddit hive found a real conversion of the Dodge Charger that turns the muscle car into what we can call a modern Dodge Rampage. The car itself looks pretty standard at the front, however behind the cab is where things get interesting with the addition of a truck bed.

The modification has been done quite well, with smooth curves bridging the bed and the car together. We certainly don’t see why the car has somehow ended up in Reddit’s ‘ugly’ car mods thread. The modern Dodge Rampage would honestly make for a great alternative to the tiny trucks we’re seeing return to the market today. Especially when combined with the immense power, we know the Dodge Charger has at the ready.

Dodge Rampage: A Short Production Life

The Dodge Rampage had a short production span of just three years. Reaching the market after the Ford Ranchero was discontinued and the Chevrolet El Camino switched platforms, car-style trucks were already on the decline by the time it launched. Its first year saw 17,636 units sold; then, sales dropped significantly to 8,033 in 1983. However, the third and final year of the Dodge Rampage’s production saw a facelift with a Charger front fascia which boosted sales to 11,732.

While the Dodge Rampage is a rare sight and many are rotting away in garages and junkyards, it’s certainly refreshing to see a transformation that someone has done to breathe new life into a piece of automotive history.
