CHEVROLET SILVERADO EV ZR2 TEASED?

The Chevrolet Silverado EV is still over a year away, but the hype remains very real, and the brand will continue to trickle in more and more concrete information as we get closer to the truck’s start of production. As for special variants, we already got a sneak peak of what’s to come with the Silverado EV Trail Boss. And judging by the photos above and below, a Silverado EV ZR2 may follow it in the timeline.

Per an Instagram post by the GM Design team, a sketch portrays the front Fascia of what appears to be a Silverado EV ZR2. The caption reads “Taking the imposing face of a Chevrolet truck into the EV future.” While nothing has been officially confirmed, it gives hope that the Silverado EV will have a ZR2 iteration coming down the line. Perhaps featuring some direct components from the trail-blazing GMC Hummer EV electric pickup truck and its Extreme Off-Road Package.

The light placement in particular features two led stripes on the hood while still sporting a massive light bar stretching from side to side. There also appears to be four yellow fog-lights. The Silverado EV RST only features the light bar and two fog lights on its face. Beyond that, there also appears to be openings for tow hooks protruding from the front of the vehicle and the emergence of hood vents or scoops as well. This sketch, which is more reminiscent of the early design sketches of the RST, also features some off-road tires, a pronounced bash plate, and higher ground clearance. All of which are somewhat of a standard amenity on the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 we see today. That version can be configured now and has been deemed a bargain compared to the Ram TRX and F-150 Raptor.

Overall, the Chevrolet Silverado EV ZR2 concept design gives the impression that this EV is going to be ready to do some off-roading. It will be a welcome addition to GM’s electric vehicle portfolio, which is expected to feature 30 new EV’s to the global marketplace by 2025.
