SEMA HOSTING A FORD F-150 LIGHTNING MEASURING EVENT THIS WEEK

The Ford F-150 Lightning has gained quite a bit of attention from both longtime loyal fans of the brand and newcomers, even celebrities like The Rock are interested in owning one. A portion of those interested in the all-electric pickup truck also include the members of the aftermarket, who will undoubtedly look to provide these trucks a proper glow up. SEMA is hosting an event just for them so that they know what to expect and how to provide once customers come calling.

Ford is set to host a measuring event this week from April 11th to the 15th. Registration for the 15th is already sold out. In a nutshell a measuring event is an opportunity for members of the aftermarket to come get a hands-on look at a vehicle so that they can quite literally take measurements and jot down specific dimensions so that they can go back to the lab and do what they do. The event will take place at the SEMA Garage in Diamond Bar, California. Due to local guidelines however, appointments will be required. The measuring event is free and based on the schedule maker online will allow attendees a two-hour window to get hands-on with the 2022 F-150 Lighting. No word right now on what aftermarket companies might be in attendance.

You can configure your Ford F-150 Lightning online now. Pricing for the trims range from as low as $39,974 before a nice tax credit to as pricey as $92,569 for the Platinum trim. In comparison, the Silverado EV, which debuted after the Lighting, sits at almost exactly the same price for a base model Ford. On the other hand you are near GMC Hummer EV territory for a Platinum Lighting. The F-150 will be a popular truck on the roads in years to come if reservations are any indication. The company has close to 200,000 reservations so far and announced early this year they are doubling production on the assembly line. Needless to say, opportunities for the aftermarket will be present.
