2023 FORD F-150 RATTLER: AN OFF-ROAD PICKUP TRUCK FOR THE PEOPLE

While we do love ourselves some all-conquering trucks and SUVs, everybody will have to admit that they’ve gotten pretty expensive. The Ford F-150 Raptor, for example, starts at $70,000+ with destination and no options. The Ram TRX is even more. The Bronco Raptor is also $70-grand. While they’re indeed exceedingly capable, sometimes appealing to reason is the healthier choice. Which is why the new 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler makes so much sense. It’s a comprehensive off-road package that will be much friendlier to the pocket books of pickup truck customers.

Ford kept the details on the 2023 F-150 Rattler simple, because that’s what it is. A simpler truck. This new package is based on the baseline F-150 XL trim level, featuring FX4 skid plates, an electronic rear-locking differential for enhanced traction, hill descent control, specially tuned off-road shock absorbers, all-terrain tires, a dual exhaust system, painted 18-inch aluminum wheels, and unique “Rattler” badging on the fender vents and rattlesnake-inspired graphics. On the inside, the 2023 Ford F-150 Rattler features darkened Onyx seats featuring bronzed accents and unique stitching that seems to riff the Tremor a bit.

While Rattler is based on the F-150 XL with the FX4 package, the interior shots and the crew cab configuration would suggest that a few options would need to be checked off before the Rattler package can be fully unlocked. This includes the SuperCab configuration (opposed to the base single cab), the XL High package, the optional center console, and upgraded powertrain. So, it’s not quite bare-bones, but compared to the Tremor and Raptor, your bank account is going to like the F-150 Rattler.

We dig it, it works, and it’s an off-road truck for the people. That said, pricing hasn’t been announced yet, and production doesn’t commence until this fall. So stay tuned for more info on the F-150 Rattler as it happens.
