A FORD MAVERICK STREET PERFORMANCE TRUCK IS COMING

As we’ve seen, the Ford Maverick proves to be an incredibly versatile machine, and acts as a bit of a clean slate to become whatever the owner wants it to be. That was especially brought to light during the 2021 SEMA Show, when Ford showed off a quartet of customized Mavericks. But the one that really seemed to stand out from the others was a souped up truck from Tucci Hot Rods. Go figure that Ford has been paying attention, and now has what could be a Ford Maverick ST, or something like it, in the works.

A Ford Maverick ST was only just a rumor, but something that was utterly probable as some have tuned their tiny trucks to be more sport-oriented. But now it’s less a rumor and could very well be on the way as recent sightings from Motor1 have spotted a Ford Maverick with a modified rear bumper with cut-out sections on each side for dual exhaust.

Other photos that show the front of the Ford Maverick appear to depict the car featuring an additional intercooler or a relocated place for the part. This particular Maverick’s powertrain needs some extra cooling which may also hint at a more performance-oriented powertrain. Ford also placed camouflage around the wheel wells, which doesn’t do much in covering the fenders that stick out further than the current models of the Maverick. Widening the arches is generally something automakers do when creating performance-focused products because it gives the model a tougher look; it also provides the company with the ability to fit broader wheels onto the vehicle.

The rumor about the Ford Maverick ST popped up in August, which was an indication that Ford was monitoring the market to see if a sporty model would be a good fit. Given the level of enthusiasm towards boosting the power output of the Maverick or modifying it into a hot rod of some sort. It is no surprise that Ford is working on a high-output version of the truck.
