CADILLAC BLACKWING SKETCH HAS US EAGER FOR MORE

The ATS-V And CT5-V Blackwing sport sedans are Cadillac’s pinnacle of premium performance, delivering on world-beating specs, while offering incredible easter egg details that will have even the most particular of personalities peering them over even after months of ownership. Based on our time with a Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing, they drive special, they feel special, and they’re designed special. And based on a recent theme sketch shared to the world via the GM Design Instagram page, that was always the case.

The design was created by Robin Krieg, currently serving as lead exterior designer of the Cadillac brand. This isn’t the first design sketch we’ve seen from Krieg. Late last year, the GM Design page shared a sketch of a T1 Escalade sketch, also by Krieg, that offered a glimpse at what the Escalade looked like years prior to production. GM Design tends to be ahead of the engineering teams when it comes to future product development.

Some outlets have speculated that this Cadillac Blackwing design sketch eludes to some sort of mid-engined supercar coming down the road, but we at MC&T understand that not to be the case. Such an idea may have been bounced around on a whiteboard, but Cadillac has some pretty expedient EV plans in the works. This appears to be only a theme sketch, for the CT5-V Blackwing in particular. Nevertheless, a behind-the-scenes look at the GM Design process is always fascinating.

For the collector, Cadillac has so far offered some exceptionally rare versions of its Blackwing sedans, such as the Dark Emerald Frost colored CT4-V and CT5-V where only 150 were made in total for the 2021 model year. Also rare is the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V Collector Series that made its sneaky debut at auction in Florida not too long ago, and only 120 of those will be produced.
