CORN FED: DODGE HELLCAT ENGINES REPORTEDLY GETTING E85 TUNE

The sun is indeed setting on the high-octane muscle car era, mostly due to ongoing political pressure and economic factors like skyrocketing fuel prices. Regardless, the bachelor party isn’t quite over yet. And Dodge continues to keep the party going for as long as it possibly can. And most recently, there’s a new report that eludes to further power upgrades for the Dodge Hellcat engines.

According to the deep sources over at Mopar Insiders, Dodge isn’t done with the Hellcat just yet, and has something special in the works that will debut during the brand’s Never Lift campaign. Considering the surge of news on the way for Speed Week – the period of time between Roadkill Nights on August 13 and the annual Woodward Dream Cruise happening the following weekend – we could see something confirmed as soon as then.

Remember when prices were half of what they were today?

Per the report, the E85 Dodge Hellcat muscle cars are expected to be of limited production, but could kick out more horsepower than even that of the 840 horsepower SRT Demon. Consider that the Direct Connection Stage 3 Kit for the Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcat Redeye muscle cars can kick out 885 horsepower when on 100+ octane fuel. E85 fuel is also cheaper to run on than gasoline, which is something that is sure to be attractive to customers. So, we’ll just have to wait and see.

After a restful Sunday following Saturday’s Roadkill Nights, Dodge could pop the tarp on this E85 Hellcat tune come Monday, August 15. And while we’re hopeful this E85 news is legit, the news could also simply be another collectable appearance package, or some kind of send-off edition for both the Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger muscle cars.
