Jeep recently filed for a trademark last month, which could indicate a new performance designation, “Jeep Xtreme Performance” (JXP). We may see it appear on future high-performance Jeep vehicles. The trademark was filed by FCA US LLC (Stellantis) on June 30 with the United States patent and Trademark Office. The trademark specifies “motor vehicles, namely, automobiles, trucks, vans, sport utility vehicles and structural parts therefor.”

Jeep held a trademark on the JXP moniker in the past, but it was only for branded clothing and outdoor gear sold overseas. That said, the intent of the trademark filing is clearly not to sell shirts. We already see Jeep using the “Xtreme” designation with the 2022 Wrangler Xtreme Recon, which equips the popular off-roader with 35-inch tires, a superior crawl ratio, and other upgrades from the factory to better thwart the threat of the formidable Ford Bronco. There’s no official indication that the “Xtreme Performance” designation would be exclusive to the Jeep Wrangler, or even if it would be for the Wrangler for that matter.
With that said, a name like Jeep Xtreme Performance might not necessarily have to be oriented for off-roading. Electrification does bring some added performance to the table. While the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk won’t likely be finding its way back into production, maybe they have some other performance-oriented trims planned with the help of batteries.
The Jeep Xtreme Performance trademark could also be used for performance-oriented parts for an assortment of SUVs as well as apparel. Of course, only time will truly tell what they have going on, but JXP would be a catchy thing to have on a t-shirt if they decide to take that route.
