FORD MUSTANG DARK HORSE TRADEMARKED IN THE USA AS WELL

At the end of last month, a trademark for the name “Mustang Dark Horse” with the European Union Intellectual Property Office by Ford Motor Company was discovered, hinting at a new trim for the S550 Mustang lineup. However, we’ve found that the trademark has also been filed on June 22, 2022, here in the United States, indicating that the new trim won’t just be for the European market.

Ford Mustang Dark Horse: Black Accent Package

The Ford Mustang Dark Horse is likely a name that will be applied to Ford’s new Black Accent Package, which includes black-painted wheels, black pony badges, and a black-painted wing. At the beginning of June, we discovered that the S550 Ford Mustang would be getting a black accent package, but they had difficulty finding a good name, turning to the people to finally choose one. Finally, we think they found a good name as “Black Accent Package” kind of falls short of any charisma. Meanwhile, “Mustang Dark Horse” brings Ford’s speech level to 100.

This is fantastic news as we initially thought the new black-out appearance wouldn’t be coming to North America. At the very least, we didn’t expect to get the perfect name that customers buying the iconic muscle car would have across the Atlantic. It’s unclear if a blackout package is in order for the all-electric Mustang Mach-E crossover, but considering that Ford offers the Ice White Package on both the Mustang SUV and the coupe, that could be an indicator. Pricing for the package hasn’t yet been revealed for either market, but it likely won’t be significantly higher than the regular Mustang and Mach-E.

The Ford Mustang Dark Horse appearance is expected to be entirely shrouded in black aesthetics, likely without any chrome features on the exterior. It’s still unclear what Ford has planned for the interior of the car, but we doubt this package will stray too far from a shadowy color palette.
