The Ford Bronco originally galloped out of the barn in 1966, some 56 years ago. And if somebody was 16 years old back then to drive a new Bronco off the lot, that would put their age around 72 years old. To celebrate these memories, Ford is readying a special Bronco Heritage Edition SUV for the 2023 model year. Recently, this commemorative throwback package may have been spotted on Michigan roads without any deceiving camouflage. This is expected to be different than the Bronco Oates package, which still remains a mystery to us outsiders.

Spy photos from Autoblog reveal an un-camouflaged red Bronco Heritage model taking to the highway in Michigan and exploits some of its attributes giving us a good indicator of what to expect once Ford makes a formal announcement. To start off, one of the more obvious changes is to the front grill. Where most Broncos grill will have the word “Bronco” stamped into it, the heritage has “Ford” stamped and centered in bright red, a look we’ve also seen on the 1966 Ford Bronco.
In addition to that, the 2023 Ford Bronco Heritage Edition seems to come equipped with a (likely standard) Sasquatch Package riding on meaty 35-inch Goodyears that accent the retro dog-dish style wheels to further pay homage to the 1966 original. There’s also a roof rack present. Two-tone paint was not photographed on this particular prototype, however that’s still expected. These design details, like the Bronco Raptor, were teased during the Bronco’s original reveal in 2020 with some conceptual models on display, seemingly for the sole reason to stir curiosity. The Pope Francis Bronco continued this. Meanwhile, some members of the Bronco community have even gone onto create Heritage Broncos of their own.
Order books for the 2022 model year Bronco are closed, however 2023 order books should open fairly soon, and rumor has it that you can jump in line now.
