Dodge knows this, which is why they came up with a solution previewed through the Charger Daytona SRT Banshee Concept.
Dodge Charger Daytona Banshee Concept: Exhaust Details
The Dodge Charger Daytona SRT Banshee Concept voices a 126 dB roar that equals the SRT Hellcat, generated through a new, patent-pending Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust system. This means that Dodge did, in fact, add an exhaust to an electric vehicle. The industry-first Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust pushes its one-of-a-kind performance sound through an amplifier and tuning chamber located at the rear of the vehicle. The Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust represents the next generation of tactile, bone-shaking, muscle attitude, creating a visceral “Dark Matter” sound profile experience in concert with the eRupt transmission. Yes, this EV has a transmission.
The eRupt transmission is unlike typical BEVs, featuring electro-mechanical shifting that delivers specific shift points, throwing shoulders into seatbacks in true Dodge style. The Charger Daytona Banshee Concept also boasts a PowerShot push-to-pass feature which provides an adrenaline jolt of increased power for a quick burst of acceleration. A nifty feature for a vehicle that already has a ton of torque at the ready for the driver.
As the transmission and the exhaust work in tandem with each other, the driver is given the same joyful experience when driving the car as they would if it was an internal combustion engine. Of course, plugging in and charging is still an obstacle, but Dodge has taken away from the more significant drawback for car enthusiasts, which is silence. It’s clear a younger group of enthusiasts is ready to do burnouts in an electric vehicle, and with the added sound from the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, it’s now going to be exponentially more fun.
