2023 FORD RANGER PLATINUM DEBUTS FOR EUROPE, UK, AND AUSTRALIA

While North America continues to wait for production to begin for the next-generation Ford Ranger, the rest of the world is getting a Platinum trim for the midsize truck. The new Platinum trim for the Ford Ranger will slot between the Wildtrack and the Raptor with more premium looks and features. The trim will be available in Europe, the UK, and Australia for the 2023 model year and features some generous standard equipment. The Ranger Platinum trim will also be exclusively offered with the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel.

Are we, as Americans, a little jealous that Ford once again debuted a desirable new product outside of its home turf like it’s done so many times before? Nope, never. We’re just fine carrying on with the last-gen Ranger here on US Soil, and its Splash appearance packages.

Sigh.

2023 Ford Ranger Platinum: Details

Unsurprisingly, the new Ford Ranger trim is exclusively available with the double-cab body style. The P703 Ford Ranger Platinum is visually distinguished by the unique chrome-infused grille, the Platinum lettering on the hood, the standard Matrix LED headlights, silk chrome accents, 20-inch alloy wheels, and version-specific Equinox Bronze exterior shade available as an option. The trucks will also feature Ford’s new Flexible Rack System, which has folding roof racks, a patented sliding load rack, a power roller shutter, and a damped tailgate with gas struts.

While the exterior has plenty of luxurious features, the interior is no exception, with quilted leather upholstery, faux wood accents on the dashboard, a heated steering wheel, and heated and ventilated front seats with 10-way power adjustments and memory functions for the driver. The dashboard also features a closed shelf and upper glovebox. Ensuring people know this is the Platinum trim, Ford placed a Platinum emblem on the glovebox, seats, and floor mats. As for technology, there’s a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, paired with a B&O premium sound system.

The pickup is exclusively paired with a 3.0L V6 turbodiesel that produces 247 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque in Australia and 237 ponies in the UK and Europe. Power is sent to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic gearbox and Ford’s electronically controlled full-time 4WD system. The 2023 Ford Ranger Platinum is available to order in Europe, the UK, and Australia, with the first deliveries expected in May 2023. Pricing will vary depending on the region, but customers should expect to pay around $50,000 USD. Meanwhile, folks in North America shall continue to twiddle their thumbs in anticipation for the next-gen truck to arrive.
