CHEVROLET WILL BUILD YOU A 1,000+ HORSEPOWER CAMARO

The 2022 PRI Show is in the books. And while electric, battery powered things continue to dominate the headlines, Chevrolet Performance revealed several vehicles during the show that discard that narrative altogether. PRI is a motorsports-oriented event, after all. Even more than the SEMA Show. So it makes sense to see 2023 Chevrolet Camaro with over 1,000 horsepower in the engine bay that customers can buy. Part of the 2023 COPO Camaro program, Chevrolet Performance has added the 10.4L Z632 Big Block V8 engine that puts out 1,004 crank horsepower. The ZZ632 originally debuted last year at the 2021 SEMA Show, where it was found in the engine bay of a Hoonigan-built third-gen Camaro.

First thing’s first, the COPO Camaro is not street legal. It’s a purpose built race car for the drag strip, with a full cage, harnesses, and everything else needed to be sanctioned by the NHRA. Additionally, the fuel-injected ZZ632 Big Block V8 is not intended for street use, either. At least, that’s what GM lawyers have to disclose. The 1,004 horsepower naturally aspirated engine also replaces the ZZ572 V8 engine that was only in the COPO Camaro for the 2022 model year. The 9.3L, 727 horsepower ZZ572 is another Big Block V8 and is essentially the “little brother” to the ZZ632 V8, if you can call it little. While not in the 2023 COPO Camaro, it can still be found in the 2023 Chevrolet Performance Catalog.

The other engines available in the 2023 COPO Camaro are the LSX-based 427 NA V8, which is a 7.0L racing engine. Up from there is the 350 SC, which is a 5.7L supercharged V8 racing engine. The ZZ632 is the chief among them, with 10.4L of displacement and 1,004 hp.

Customers that opt for the ZZ632 Big Block will also be treated to an exclusive color and graphics package, which adds Vivid Orange Metallic (paint code GCF – pictured), unique striping, badging, accents, and new lighting treatments.

2023 COPO Camaro Price

The 2023 Chevrolet COPO Camaro is sold without a title, on a Bill of Sale, and does not have a VIN. After customers submit their information, and a build spot is confirmed, a $15,000 deposit is required. Customers can also inform Chevrolet if they intend to use their COPO Camaro for competition, or for simply adding it to a collection.

Pricing for the 2023 COPO Camaro starts at $126,420 USD, with the LSX 427 V8. If you want a COPO with the ZZ632 big block, that will run you $135,900 USD. Pricing for the supercharged 350 starts at $141,225. All models include the Racer’s Package, which comes with a weight box, dual batteries, carbon fiber intake, and a parachute. The package throws in an intercooler quick-change coupling for the supercharged 350 engine. One of these drag strip missiles would certainly compliment something like a 2023 Corvette Z06, which does to road courses what Lionel Messi does to a soccer field.

Available 2023 Chevrolet Camaro COPO exterior colors include Black (GBA), Summit White (GAZ), Satin Steel Gray Metallic (G9K), and Red Hot (G7C). None of them require a premium.
