Despite the S650 Ford Mustang having just been revealed, we’re already looking to when we can expect to see the S750 Mustang release, though that vehicle will mark the end of the V8 within the muscle car segment. Auto Forecast Solutions predicts that the S650 Ford Mustang production will end at the beginning of 2029, with production for the 8th generation beginning that same year.
8th Gen Ford Mustang Production Forecast
According to the forecast, we can expect the S750 Mustang to utilize the Ford GE2.2 platform, which will also underpin the second-generation Mach-E and what’s being described as a new Mach-E coupe, as well as an electric Ford Escape, and Explorer EV, though they will use the GE2.1. In other words, according to the forecast, the 8th generation Ford Mustang family is expected to be entirely electric.
As for where it will be built, the 8th-generation S750 Ford Mustang will likely keep its spot at the Ford Flat Rock Assembly plant that’s built the Mustang since 2004. Though, we suppose it’s far enough out that these things are subject to change. The main focus here is to expect the next-generation Mustang at the end of the decade.
We initially expected the S650 Ford Mustang to incorporate electrification to some degree due to the federal regulations put on manufacturers. However, the world has lucked out with the creation of the Mustang Mach-E. After Jim Farley took the reigns as CEO, he became a strong voice that pushed the company towards developing an electric crossover with sporty tendencies that would meet California’s new strict emissions mandate. The move ended up being the right one, as the Mach-E has been a strong seller for Ford, even eclipsing Mustang coupe sales in some months. Furthermore, it has allowed Ford to leave the beloved formula of the Mustang coupe alone for the time being, giving a product for the more die-hard muscle car enthusiasts to rally around. Perhaps the only product for them to rally around after this next production year.
