The word is Paris is beautiful this time of year. Former Kentucky track star Alexis Holmes is going to get to check it out firsthand next month at the Summer Olympics. Holmes will represent Team USA while competing against the world’s best in the 400 meters. She finished third in the event on Sunday night after posting a career-best 49.78. Holmes is making her Olympic debut after the 2022 Kentucky graduate passed three runners in the final 100 meters of the race. The University of Kentucky’s own Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is dominating the track and field scene. If you’ve already forgotten, the 24-year-old ran for Kentucky for one season, 2017-18. As a Wildcat, McLaughlin made it clear that she was going to be one of the best. Even before college, it was obvious she’d be a star. At just 16 years old, the sprinter came third in the 400m hurdles 2016 Olympic Trials, setting a world junior record at 54.15 seconds. At Kentucky, McLaughlin destroyed the NCAA in the 400m, winning gold by nearly two seconds in a literal hail storm. She also broke the collegiat...

The intertwining of Kentucky and Arkansas athletics has been bordering on incestuous lately, but before there was John Calipari, DJ Wagner, Adou Thiero, Zvonimir Ivisic, and a host of recruit flips, there was Lonnie Greene. As the Kentucky Director of Cross Country/Track & Field and Head Coach since the 2018-19 season, Lonnie Greene has led the Wildcats to tremendous success. But before that, Greene was an Arkansas legend. Now, his icon status will officially be etched in the history books as Greene was inducted into the Arkansas Track and Field Hall of Fame on Friday. Greene joined seven othe...

The University of Kentucky Track and Field Men’s 4×100 meter relay team channeled their inner Ricky Bobby on Friday at the NCAA Division I East First Rounds and went fast. I mean, fast-fast. The team broke the school record with a blazing time of 38.53 seconds. This bested their own school record, one they set earlier this year. Prior to this season, the previous record of 38.81 seconds had stood since 1995. It also marks the fastest Division I time in the country at both the East and West First Rounds. Shake and bake, baby. Freshman Shavique Bascus, junior Clinton Muunga, freshman Miles Jones...
