As a European startup founder, it is easy to say you believe in tech for good. It is good PR. It gives you a warm fuzzy feeling. It might even convince some people that you’re not in it for the money. But what do those words actually mean? As words, they mean very little. I know times are tough. I know fundraising right now isn’t easy. You might be facing down-rounds and bridge-rounds. VCs that were once on speed dial may no longer be returning your calls. But I’m here to tell you that actually investing in tech for good makes sense. NGOs have the know-how, startups have the meansThe 2023 UK C...

Overseas funding was used to finance 1,194 projects in France last year, according to a new attractiveness survey published by Ernst & Young (EY). This represents an annual decline of 5%, but still allows France to outflank its European peers. Investment projects dropped 4% across Europe last year, with the UK and Germany noting declines of 6% and 12% respectively. The UK was home to 985 projects financed by foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2023, whilst Germany recorded a total of 733. The big three - France, Germany, and the UK - attracted more than 51% of FDI on the continent. Why is Franc...

An artificial intelligence (AI) company called 21st Century Digital Teaching (21C) is taking some big steps to solve the chronic teacher shortage in the UK and across Europe by revolutionising the way students learn maths and other key subjects. To do this, 21C created a digital teaching app and learning platform for schools that, it says, greatly reduces the number of teachers needed by digitising them and converting them into avatars on the app, enabling lessons to go ahead when there's a shortage. The founders said it also offers a new way of doing homework as it's more interactive and enab...
