Mark Cavendish is part of the Astana team for the upcoming Tour de France where the veteran Briton may make his final attempt to gain sole possession of the stage win record. The team was announced on Monday. Sprinter Cavendish is tied with Belgian legend Eddy Merckx on 34 stage wins at the famous three-week race. He achieved them between 2009 and 2021 and will face a uphill battle to return to the top this year. The biggest rival is Belgian Jasper Philipsen, who won four stages last year. The 2026 Tour de France will start in Barcelona, Tour director Christian Prudhomme said on Tuesday. After 1957, 1965 and 2009, the it will be the Tour's fourth to visit Barcelona, but the fist time the city hosts the Grand Départ. "We like big cities.
