Chevrolet will honor the legacy of the Camaro muscle car next weekend, as it prepares to field a Camaro NASCAR Cup Series race car in an experimental class during the 100th anniversary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans happening in France. Further, Chevrolet will send off the sixth-generation Camaro with a special Final Collector’s Edition, highlighted by an exclusive “Panther Black” color and unique design details.
On top of the official details were released today, MC&T has come across a few dealer guide ordering documents that shed some light on various RPO codes for the final installment of the sixth-generation Camaro.

If you were hoping for some sort of power or performance upgrade to the final model year of the sixth-generation Camaro, that’s not the case. There have been wild rumors and speculation that it would happen. Fake news published by a magazine talked of a Z/28 with the same 5.5L LT6 engine as the C8 Z06. That was never happening. Another rumor was that the 755 hp 6.2L LT5 that existed only in the C7 ZR1 would arrive in the finale Camaro. Again, no. Lastly, there was a rumor that the LT2 V8 engine found in the C8 Corvette Stingray would replace the currently 6.2L LT1 V8 in the Camaro SS and LT1 trim levels. The LT2 exists strictly for mid-engine configurations, so we’re not sure how this was ever a rumor to begin with.
The 2024 Camaro Final Collector’s Edition focuses its themes around its original code name for the program, Panther, which eventually became the iconic pony car in 1967.
“We found it fitting for this Collector’s Edition Camaro to officially recognize the significance of the original code name and share it with Camaro enthusiasts,” said Rich Scheer, design director, Chevrolet Performance. “Of course, the name ‘Panther’ influenced the colors used, Panther Black Metallic for SS and Panther Matte Black for ZL1.”
For LT/RS, LT1 and SS trims, the 2024 Camaro Final Collector’s Edition will come exclusively with Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat paint, Satin Black accent stripes, 20-inch Satin Black or optional Polished Forged Wheels. Those opting for the SS 1LE package, as well as the coupe body style, receive the rear spoiler from the ZL1 package.
If you’re going whole hog, the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition is the one to get. Limited to a scant 350 units, it comes exclusively in Panther Black Matte; the first (and last?) matte paint offered on Camaro from the factory. On ZL1 coupe body styles, the muscle car will feature the front splitter and rear wing from the insane ZL1 1LE. Contrasting the matte black paint will be a Panther Black Metallic stripe, red brake calipers and black lug nuts. On the inside, all 350 Collector’s Edition ZL1 vehicles receive a serialized steering wheel badge representing where that vehicle was built in sequence.
Further, all 350 Camaro ZL1 Collector’s Edition owners will receive a bespoke Shinola Canfield Sport 45mm watch that commemorates this special edition muscle car, with an inscribed serial number that matches the number on their vehicle’s steering wheel badge. The watch features a panther engraved watch band to the Camaro logo housed on the watch face.
All 2024 Chevrolet Camaro Collector’s Edition muscle cars will also receive unique front fender script badging that integrates a panther into the “R,” and a panther on the steering wheel badge. These Camaro builds also feature special floor mats with a laser-etched aluminum Collector’s Edition logo and unique black interior treatments.
But wait, there’s more! Those who purchase a Camaro Collector’s Edition will receive a welcome kit which contains two posters commemorating the Camaro generations and the Collector’s Edition.
2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition Ordering Details
According to details acquired by Chevrolet dealers, the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro “Panther Black” Collector’s Edition (RPO code Z4B) will be available on the 1LT, 2LT, 3LT, LT1, 1SS, 2SS, and ZL1 trim levels. Its main trait will be an exclusive colors: Panther Black Metallic Tricoat (RPO code GLK), and Panther Black Matte (RPO code GNW). Minor details will include black lug nuts, red brake calipers, and carbon fiber rocker panels. It can also be paired with the RS Appearance Package.
Otherwise, special Camaro badges with a panther embossed into the lettering have been confirmed by teaser images. The 2024 model year is going to be the last run for the sixth-generation Camaro, where the nameplate will go into hiatus for a second time following that. What comes next won’t be an immediate succession, but with General Motors continuing to lean into electric vehicles, you can probably guess what kind car the seventh-generation model will be.
Further 2024 Model Year Updates: 2.0L Turbo Dropped
The 2024 Chevrolet Camaro will continue to be available in coupe and convertible on LT, LT1, SS and ZL1 trims, with 1LE remaining an available option on SS and ZL1. However, Chevy is dropping the entry-level 2.0L LTG turbo engine for 2024 model year. The base engine is now the 3.6L V6, with the 6.2L LT1 being the step up in the LT1 and SS trims, with the supercharged 6.2L LT4 V8 reserved for the ZL1 model. Output for each engine is unchanged. Lastly, two exterior colors, Riptide Blue and Nitro Metallic Yellow, can be selected across all trims.
Chevrolet dealers will begin accepting orders for the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro starting next week, on June 15, with a starting MSRP of $32,495 USD for the LT coupe and $38,495 USD for the LT convertible. More detailed pricing is as follows:
