Leeds United duo included in Team of the Week alongside Leif Davis, while Joe Rodon misses out

Leeds United secured a tenth win in 11 Championship matches on Tuesday night after grinding out a narrow 1-0 win over Stoke City – and the League have announced their Team of the Week on Twitter.

Dan James got the only goal of the game after slamming home a shot from the edge of the area, his 11th goal of the season. Georginio Rutter laid on an assist, which left Aidy White dumbfounded in the stands.

But neither player got themselves in the Team of the Week. Joe Rodon was superb at the back, while Illan Meslier made a number of fantastic saves as both worked hard to keep a clean sheet against Stoke.

But again, Rodon and Meslier were overlooked by the Championship when choosing their team of the week. Instead, it was Ethan Ampadu and Connor Roberts that got themselves in the Team of the Week.

Ampadu was a Rolls Royce at the back again, with Rodon’s incredible form making it somewhat easy for the former Chelsea man. Something which Ampadu himself claimed, ahead of the game against Stoke.

Roberts meanwhile, got his first Championship start for Leeds after a goal in the win over Leicester and an assist on Saturday in the draw with Huddersfield. He deserved a start, and produced a solid display.

Elsewhere, former Leeds defender Leif Davis was an easy decision for the Team of the Week. He got a goal and two assists as Ipswich came from behind to beat Bristol City 3-2, retaining second place.

Summer target Grady Diangana got a goal and was included despite West Brom failing to beat QPR. Coventry’s Ellis Simms got a hat-trick against Rotherham and he was picked in the Team of the Week.
