‘Excellent’… Tottenham coach seriously impressed with 23-year-old in training

One of the Tottenham Hotspur coaches was left seriously impressed with one of the players who has remained at Hotspur Way.

Ange Postecoglou has been left with a skeleton squad for the past week with numerous players leaving Hotspur Way on international duty.

However, one of the players who has remained with the club has clearly been impressing the coaches.

Who impressed during Tottenham training

On Friday, the club released some footage of a recent training session with some familiar faces still on show.

A lot of the squad has been selected to represent their nations over the next week.

The likes of Timo Werner and Yves Bissouma have not been selected for their respective countries this month.

But it was Bryan Gil who was heard impressing one of the Tottenham coaches during a drill which saw the Spaniard crossing the ball into the box.

As the 23-year-old delivered a ball in for Bissouma to put in the back of the net, one of the coaches was heard saying, “Go on, Bryan. Go on, Bryan… excellent!”

What Harry Kane said about Bryan Gil

The move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium back in 2021 is one all parties will look back on with regret.

Spurs parted with Erik Lamela and £21m for the Spanish forward as Gil made the move from Sevilla to Spurs.

Having spent time away on loan, it looks like the 23-year-old’s time in north London could well be coming to an end.

It is believed Spurs are now looking to offload the winger permanently this summer as he is no longer part of Postecoglou’s plans.

This is a player who Harry Kane had a lot of positive things to say about just last season following their victory at Selhurst Park.

Kane said: “I’m really happy for Bryan. He’s waited patiently for his chance, worked really hard on the training pitch.

“I say to everyone, ‘just be ready for your opportunity’, and Bryan was there last night. He would have been a little bit disappointed after the last game, but he came out and showed his quality. I’m delighted for him and I’m sure he’ll be ready for the next one.”

Gil is also said to have had the opportunity to leave Spurs on loan in the January transfer window with a number of clubs said to be interested.

With the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion believed to be interested, it is really difficult to see why he decided against leaving.
