Report: Nottingham Forest want to sign 22-year-old defender this summer, they bid £25m last year

Nottingham Forest are expected to make a return this summer for a player who they tried to sign last year.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are currently slumped inside the bottom three following their recent points deduction by the Premier League.

However, their recent failure to meet the financial regulations may not scare the club away from making some exciting summer signings.

Nottingham Forest could return for Benfica’s Morato

According to reports in Portugal, Forest are expected to return to Benfica this summer to try and prise Morato away.

It is claimed the defender still remains a player of interest in both England and France ahead of the summer transfer window.

Last summer, Forest are believed to have lodged a £25m bid for the 22-year-old, but saw their efforts pushed back by the Portuguese side.

However, it has to be said that it’s been reported does claim Morato has a £80m release clause in his current deal with the Portuguese outfit.

Who Nottingham Forest could cash in on this summer

With the club’s future in the Premier League, a number of players’ futures may lie uncertain at the City Ground.

One player who has just a matter of months remaining on his current deal is Willy Boly.

However, it seems as if Forest could look to secure the services of the Ivorian for a longer period of time.

Having signed him for just £2m, Forest are considering a contract extension for their 33-year-old defender this summer.

But there is one player who Forest could look to cash in for big money.

It has already been suggested Nuno’s side consider Murillo to be worth significant money ahead of the summer.

Claims suggest Forest will be looking for more than what they sold Brennan Johnson to Tottenham Hotspur for last summer.

And it is even suggested Forest consider the player as someone who could potentially be worth up to £70m in the years to come.

That is, of course, huge money for a player who is only in his first season in the Premier League having joined just last summer from Corinthians.
