‘Interesting’… Alasdair Gold wowed after he’s heard what Scott Munn has been working on at Tottenham

Journalist Alasdair Gold has been left seriously impressed by what he has heard about Scott Munn at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Australian joined the club earlier this season as their new chief football officer and has seen some major changes in that time.

However, it is what he is doing on a match day to help Ange Postecoglou which has wowed the Spurs reporter.

What Scott Munn is doing on a match day

Spurs have recently announced they will be taking part in a post-season friendly in Postecoglou’s home city of Melbourne.

And Munn has returned to his homeland as he helped the club promote the game against Newcastle United just three days after the Premier League term finishes.

Speaking with the media over in Australia, Munn provided some insight to what he does during the 90 minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

He revealed that he sits up in the stands with the club’s analysts and helps to cut down any clips which may benefit Postecoglou’s half-time team talk.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold admitted he had been left seriously impressed by this. He said: “That was quite interesting. Two things I took from that, first off: it’s not a real big issue, he kind of suggested he’d like to be in the dugout – who wouldn’t. But I do also like the fact that he’s kind of getting this education among the analysts and able to make a real impact at half-time.

“Not only kind of providing the clips and helping pinpoint stuff for Postecoglou, that speaking to players individually about little things he noticed about their game, you know, tie that in I think with him working on the training ground working with the defensive side of the team and defensive set pieces as well. It’s quite interesting.”

What Scott Munn said about working with Daniel Levy

Arriving at Spurs has seen the Australian also take up a role which will be overseen by one of the league’s most scrutinised bosses in Daniel Levy.

In recent weeks, the Spurs chairman has come under plenty of fire for some of the decisions made.

For example, the six per cent increased to season tickets of the 2024/25 campaign did not go down well at all with the fans.

And even since then, the decision to see Spurs take part in this friendly game on the other side of the world is not something which has been welcomed by some in the media.

However, Munn did speak glowingly over his boss during his time in Melbourne, saying: “Daniel is incredibly invested in the club, personally and professionally, and I don’t think one person has a great single focus on success for the club than him and I feel absolutely privileged to work with him and the support he gives to me and the entire football team is unconditional. I just hope we’re able to repay the faith he’s put in us.”

Of course, it would have been a real shock to see Munn come out and criticise Levy after just a matter of months in the job.

However, it does feel as if all the good work which had been done this season by Levy in navigating Harry Kane’s exit and the appointment of Postecoglou has been undone.

The recent season ticket announcements and the post-season trip to Australia feels like financial decisions rather than necessitities.

And they have certainly not been made with the fans or even the players in mind.
