‘That’s a shame’… Ian Wright reacts after what he’s heard about Daniel Levy at Tottenham

Ian Wright has reacted to what he has now heard about Daniel Levy at Tottenham Hotspur.

It has now been 16 years since Tottenham got their hands on a major trophy, but one person who has been a constant at the club is Daniel Levy.

Levy’s involvement at the club has gone on for decades now and former Spurs striker Les Ferdinand has suggested he could still be round for years to come.

What Ian Wright said about Daniel Levy

There has been a lot of good done this season by Tottenham in bringing in Ange Postecoglou who has brought a new lease of life on the pitch.

Champions League qualification looks a real possibility this season despite it being the 58-year-old’s first term in the Premier League.

However, there has also been some questionable decisions made at board level as the club announced an increase to the prices of season tickets.

Speaking on the Stick To Football podcast, the Premier League legend has insisted he can’t see Levy walking away any time soon.

He said: “I think he has done some great deals and he has brought in a fella called Scott Munn now, who is set to take over the day to day running of the football club. That’s yet to be seen. He is so heavily involved in it that people still go to him and I don’t see him putting that mantle down any time soon.”

To which Ian Wright replied: “That’s a shame. I’m sure the fans want an unbelievable stadium but they want to win things Tottenham fans.”

“But they get to a place and it just plateaus. That’s up to Levy to make the decision. What more does Pochettino has to do, to say listen we’ve finished second, got to the Champions League, we just need a little bit more. Someone has to take the leap!”

What Ian Wright has previously said about Levy

It has been a turbulent season for Spurs when it comes to the decisions made by the board.

There has been a lot of things that the board can be questioned on and the recent announcement of the friendly being held in Australia is one of them.

That is a decision which has naturally received a lot of criticism within the media as it takes place just days after the end of the season.

But at the same time, they have brought in a manager who resonates with the fans and is producing a much improved brand of football.

And to add to that, the club have also backed Postecoglou in the transfer windows with a number of new players having arrived.

This is something which Wright called for leading up to the January transfer window. He said: “I think Levy this January more than any other time, and I know it’s very difficult to get really top-end players, he really does have to back Ange with some players,” Wright said.

With the arrivals of Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner – with Lucas Bergvall to follow in the summer – Spurs certainly backed Postecoglou.

But ahead of the summer, it will be interesting to see how Spurs tackle the window given they are unlikely to offload a big sale like they did with Kane last year.
