‘One to watch’… 30-year-old Tottenham player tipped to be a potential Spurs manager one day

Tottenham Hotspur could see one of their current players succeed Ange Postecoglou as manager one day.

It has not even been a year since Ange Postecoglou took over at the helm in north London and there has been a lot to be excited about.

But it has now been claimed that one of their players is working towards his coaching badges and he’s been tipped as a potential future Spurs boss.

Who could succeed Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham

Despite still being involved with the first team at Tottenham, Ben Davies is still working on a lot outside of Hotspur Way.

The arrival of Destiny Udogie has seen Davies’ game time limited at left-back, but he has racked up 11 starts this season having also filled in at centre-back.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alasdair Gold has been left amazed by the educational and coaching activities Davies has going on behind the scenes.

And he has even suggested he could be a character who could one day become the Spurs manager, he said: “Fascinating to see what he does post-playing, you know, whether he does go into the coaching side. He’s a clever guy and he is, you know, he’s worked under Pochettino, Mourinho, Conte, Nuno briefly and Postecoglou, of course, now and it will be fascinating with that kind of background, with those kinds of different influences what bits and pieces he takes from it.

“We could be talking about Ben Davies as a future top manager. Could be in a position to hang up his boots and go straight into it. I don’t know if that would work with a club like Spurs, but yeah, I think he’s definitely one to watch.”

What has been said on Postecoglou’s future

Although Postecoglou may be in the early stages of his time in north London, it is apparent he is impressing a lot of people.

Having never worked in a top five league, there will have been some question marks as to how he would adapt to life in the Premier League.

As it turns out, the 58-year-old has taken to life in England incredibly well as Spurs battle away for Champions League qualification despite having lost the club’s record goalscorer in Harry Kane.

And it has seemingly caught the attention of both Liverpool and Manchester United who are said to be interested in the Australian.

But Spurs are not expecting to lose Postecoglou any time soon.

The 58-year-old has even commented on the links to Liverpool and played down any idea that he will be moving on in the summer.

He said: “At the end of the day If I am doing a good job then it means that people will acknowledge that in one form or another, whatever that form is. So-called chat? Really? It is of no interest to me.”

It is only natural to see Postecoglou’s name dragged into the conversation for other potential vacancies ahead of the summer.

But he has spoken a lot about a long-term future at Spurs and the club are not believed to be worried about a potential exit.
