'Open to move to...': Fabrizio Romano drops new transfer update on 28-year-old Wolves approached in 2023

Wolves may well be on red alert, after a defender they approached in 2023 declared that he is ready to make a move to Europe.

Currently, Gary O’Neil only has four centre-back options at his disposal. And given the system Wolves play, O’Neil uses three of them per game.

Craig Dawson, Max Kilman, Toti Gomes and Santiago Bueno are four good options, but the feeling for a lot of Wolves fans is that one or two more centre-backs need to come in this summer.

Yerson Mosquera, who is currently out on loan at Villarreal, is expected to be assessed in pre-season and could well become a first-team option.

But Wolves will surely be looking at the market – and they may well want to make a move for Fabricio Bruno…

Bruno has just made his debut for Brazil, featuring in the 1-0 win over Englan at Wembley on Saturday.

He played alongside Lucas Beraldo and the pair put in a solid performance at the back, keeping the Three Lions’ attack at bay.

Bruno – who plays his club football with Joao Gomes’ former club Flamengo – is someone Wolves apparently made an approach for last year, according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Romano has claimed today that Bruno would now be open to leaving Brazil and joining a club in Europe. He said on X: “Brazil centre back Fabricio Bruno, open to move to Europe in the summer.

“Bruno signed new deal at Flamengo after good proposal, but could be on the move in case of bids around €12/15m. Wolves, Atalanta, #NFFC and clubs from Qatar/Saudi approached him last year.”

Bruno a player for Wolves fans to watch out for

So Bruno is keen to make a move to Europe – and Wolves fans ought to keep an eye out for developments with the 28-year-old.

Obviously, Wolves have done business with Flamengo before, signing Gomes in the January 2023 window. There may be potential for another deal to happen, and also Bruno might fancy following Gomes to Molineux. Not only would he reunite with Gomes, but a lot of the squad speak Portuguese which could appeal to him.

Wolves undoubtedly need at least one new centre-back this summer, and Bruno might just be a decent signing.

He’s an experienced player at 28, although he has never ventured outside of Brazil before in his playing career.

But he showed on Saturday that he has the capacity to deal with Premier League players, so he’s surely one to keep an eye out for in the coming months.
