Joelinton has just sent Bruno Guimaraes a three-word public message after what happened last night

It was a disappointing end to the international break for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

He was one of Brazil’s best players when they beat England at Wembley, but Tuesday night did not go quite as well for Bruno Guimaraes.

The 26-year-old was named in the Brazil starting XI once again, as they took on Spain at the Santiago Bernabeu – a stadium that Bruno could call home next season if Real Madrid formalise their interest.

But Bruno only got to experience the Bernabeu pitch for 45 minutes, on what was a largely forgettable night for the Newcastle United talisman.

Brazilian website Globo Esporte gave him a rating of 4.5/10, and were not massively enthused by his performance.

They wrote: “Below what he can produce. In the 34th minute he missed a pass that almost led to a Spain goal. Shortly afterwards, he received a yellow. Did very little with the ball at his feet, ended up sacked at half-time.”

Bruno Guimaraes receives message from Joelinton after Brazil draw

It sounds like a rare poor performance from Bruno, who has taken to his official Instagram account after the game to deliver a message to his followers.

Alongside some pictures from the 3-3 draw with Spain, he wrote: “Every last drop of sweat. We know we have to evolve and we are going for it. Pride.”

Bruno’s message received some interesting replies, with Lucas Paqueta, who netted a stoppage time equaliser, responding: “I love you buddy, I’m your fan.”

There was also a comment from Bruno’s Newcastle teammate Joelinton. He wrote: “Play hard brother.”

Joelinton will wish he could have played alongside Bruno

Joelinton has delivered some words of encouragement for his friend, and will be disappointed that he has not been able to play alongside him during the international break.

That is because the 27-year-old is currently out of action with a thigh problem, having underwent surgery earlier this year.

There is hope that Joelinton could be back before the end of the season, which could give him a late chance to be included in the Brazil squad for this summer’s Copa America.

Bruno’s 45 minute outing could be good for Newcastle

Bruno will certainly be involved, despite his disappointing display against Spain. He is a Brazil regular nowadays, and won his 20th cap on Tuesday night.

In truth, his poor performance could end up helping Newcastle United. It resulted in him being withdrawn at half time and getting a bit of a rest.

Bruno will not be happy that he was taken off, but it could help ensure he is a bit fresher when the Magpies face West Ham United on Saturday.

Newcastle’s number 39 still believes the club can qualify for Europe, with Eddie Howe’s side having 10 games to save their season. To do that, they will need their best players to be fit and firing. And while a lot of them are not fit right now, Bruno certainly is. And he is the one player who we simply cannot function without.
