Newcastle United are looking to sign a winger this summer, but so are Arsenal.
That could create an issue for Newcastle United, as some of the players they are looking at are also on Mikel Arteta’s radar.
And a move to the Emirates Stadium will probably be much more appealing, given the fact they look certain to qualify for next season’s Champions League. On top of that, they have the lure of London and could also be Premier League champions.
That is why talk of Arsenal wanting Ousmane Diomande is concerning, with Newcastle also keen admirers of the Sporting centre-back.
But Newcastle are also looking to improve in attack, with Toon officials aware that they need a better right winger next season.
Newcastle have been linked with Pedro Neto and Nico Williams
Domestically, one player who Newcastle really like is Wolverhampton Wanderers speedster Pedro Neto. It has been claimed that he is one of the Magpies’ top targets this summer, although there are concerns over his fitness record.
If you look beyond his injuries, he would be the perfect Miguel Almiron upgrade, but Eddie Howe will want a player who he can rely on to stay fit.
Another option is Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. He was viewed as an alternative to Anthony Gordon last year, and was named as a long-term target by The Athletic back in December.
The Spain international has a release clause of £43million, but is also attracting interest from Chelsea.

And he is also on Arsenal’s radar, according to journalist Charles Watts. He has spoke to Caught Offside about who the Gunners could target, with Arteta eager to sign a new wide player this summer.
He said: “What I do know is that they [Arsenal] have a long-standing interest in Pedro Neto, while Nico Williams is also understood to be high up on their list of potential targets.”
Newcastle may have to move fast for their priority target
It is not quite clear what Newcastle’s priority in the transfer market is this summer, but they might have to move fast to get the winger they want – whether that is Neto, Williams or someone else.
But the Magpies’ position is complicated by the additional need for a centre-back, given that Sven Botman could be out of action for the rest of the year. On top of that, the club must be wary of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
