Oliver Glasner's international break has just got worse as Crystal Palace handed worrying blow

Oliver Glasner cannot seem to catch a break right now at Crystal Palace as every positive development seems to be followed by negatives.

Over the last few weeks, Crystal Palace looked like the injury struggles were easing as Eberechi Eze returned to action along with Will Hughes.

Above these, it seemed Michael Olise was closing in on his return from injury potentially being fit in time to face Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

But just as Oliver Glasner got tantalisingly close to being able to name a strong line-up, Palace have been dragged back by more injuries.

Sam Johnstone was the first as he withdrew from England training and will now miss a substantial period, with his season likely over.

Now, another new worry has crept up, let’s see what’s happened…

Oliver Glasner handed a brand new injury worry

Glasner’s international break hasn’t been a happy one so far, and it just got worse with Daniel Munoz being the latest player to enter the Palace injured list this season – a particularly long list.

Munoz had scored against Spain for Colombia earlier in the international break, and after impressing he was named in the starting line-up against Romania on Tuesday.

But it didn’t go as planned and Munoz picked up an injury of some kind, being substituted in the 43rd minute.

The extent of the injury is currently unknown with rumours on X suggesting it isn’t serious and was precautionary – something we imagine Glasner will clarify during his press conference later this week.

It’s an absence which has dealt a heavy blow to Glasner’s plans, considering his lack of choice in the position.

Daniel Munoz’s injury record will give Crystal Palace faith

Despite concerns, history has shown Munoz to be a player rarely on the injury list and that should hand Palace some confidence that he won’t be out long.

In his entire career – according to Transfermarkt – he has only missed five games through injury, with one being through having the flu.

In April 2023, Munoz missed four games as he spent 23 days on the injured table with his flu in November 2023 being the only other instance of missing through injury.

This record should bode well for Munoz’s injury not being a serious one, coupled with the reports that his withdrawal was a precaution – we will have to wait and see what Glasner says.
