£45m Chelsea player returns to first team training after suffering injury on international duty

One key Chelsea player has been spotted back in first team training at the club for the first time since travelling for international duty.

Pictures posted on the club app show the player involved with his teammates despite reports that he had picked up an issue while off representing his country.

It is every Chelsea fan’s nightmare to see a top player pick up an injury whilst not even on club duty, however that seemed to be the case late last week with Cole Palmer.

Palmer injured on international duty

He was ruled out of England’s first friendly against Brazil, and the fact that he didn’t even feature from the bench in the second one suggested that he was not at 100%.

This will have been a shame for the 21-year-old, who was not doubt looking to take his club form into the international break and prove to Gareth Southgate that he should be considered for serious minutes.

All Chelsea fans will be worried about right now though is the squad that Mauricio Pochettino will have available for the visit of Burnley to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

He is already likely to be without Enzo Fernandez after the gruelling international schedule that met the Argentina players this week, and being without Palmer would be another huge blow.

Palmer back in training

However, they will be given the boost by images released of training yesterday that saw their star man involved with the rest of his teammates.

Considering he sits on a combined 28 goals and assists in all competitions in his first season at the club since his £45m move from Manchester City, his presence is absolutely essential for the Blues in every game they play.

It has been reported recently that the club are keen for him to become the new poster boy of the Blues, despite the fact that he is not an academy graduate.
