'Getting closer': Jurgen Klopp says 'world-class' Liverpool player will be back from injury soon

According to Jurgen Klopp, one of Liverpool’s world-class players will return from injury soon.

On paper, Jurgen Klopp’s final season at Liverpool may look smooth sailing for some. The Reds have already lifted a trophy, and they are still in contention to win two more in the Premier League and the Europa League.

However, under the microscope, things haven’t been smooth sailing at all. Klopp has had to contend with a lot of injuries throughout the campaign. This has been a challenge, which has only been eased by the emergence of an exciting group of Liverpool youngsters.

Thankfully, the tide is also seem to be turning back in Liverpool’s favour. The likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones are expected to return to action soon. And others could follow suit shortly after. There may even be the potential of a Joel Matip return on the cards based on what he was spotted doing at the AXA training centre recently.

Undoubtedly, though, Liverpool will be awaiting the return of a Liverpool player who Jermain Defoe has described as ‘world-class’ in the past.

What Jurgen Klopp has said about Trent Alexander-Arnold

The player in question is of course, Trent Alexander-Arnold. As we have written about recently, this season has already seen Alexander-Arnold miss more games due to injury than any of his previous campaigns for Liverpool.

2024 has been especially difficult for Alexander-Arnold so far. He has featured in just six of Liverpool’s 19 games so far in the calendar year. Currently, he has a knee ligament issue, but reports have suggested he could be back in action as early as next week.

Jurgen Klopp seems to have suggested that is a possibility. Yesterday, the Liverpool boss spoke to a group of fans who were given a tour around the club’s training facilities. During his conversation with the club’s fans, Klopp was asked where Trent Alexander-Arnold was.

“He is still injured, but he’s getting closer,” Klopp said as per Courtney Neary’s YouTube Channel.

That sounds very promising. Although Alexander-Arnold probably won’t feature in the game against Brighton this weekend. However, there is a possibility that he could return the following week and be involved in the match against Sheffield United on Thursday or Manchester United at the weekend.
