'It's a lot': Arsenal will have to pay £85m player over £200k-a-week if they want to sign him - journalist

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Real Madrid star Rodrygo Goes, but a transfer will not be easy this summer.

The Gunners have been transformed into one of the best teams in world football. They have the ability to beat any side on their day, and that makes them a really attractive club for top players.

Arsenal have already beaten big teams to sign players. The likes of Declan Rice and Kai Havertz were both chased by massive clubs, but Mikel Arteta convinced them to join the Gunners instead last year.

Now, the Premier League leaders are said to be interested in a move to sign a Real Madrid forward this summer.

The transfer fee and wages Arsenal will have to pay to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid

Arsenal have been linked with a move to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid.

The Brazil international is one of Carlo Ancelotti’s most important players.

Yes, he doesn’t get the kind of credit that the likes of Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr do, but the fact that Rodrygo has played every single game in all competitions this season shows just how integral he is.

Arsenal will be on the market to sign a new right-winger in the summer, and Rodrygo, even though he has played most of this season as a centre-forward, would be a great option.

However, a move to sign the Real Madrid man will be extremely expensive – not just with respect to transfer fees but also his salary.

Dean Jones has claimed Arsenal will have to pay a mammoth transfer fee as well as wages higher than Bukayo Saka‘s £195,000-a-week (Spotrac) if they want to sign Rodrygo this summer.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Consider what it would take for Arsenal actually to sign Rodrygo. They would need to pay a fee upwards of £85m, pay him over £200,000-a-week and convince him to leave Real Madrid. It’s a lot, and it doesn’t seem feasible.

“Yes, Arsenal are considering a wide attacker, but I do not know if this is the one that makes sense. It seems like a tough deal.

“He’s a Madrid player, and wherever he goes from there, it’s a downward step. Arsenal might be doing well and seem on a good trajectory, but he won’t necessarily be jumping at it.”

Three alternatives for Arsenal who’ll be much cheaper than Rodrygo

Rodrygo would definitely be an exciting signing for Arsenal, but the figures involved in any potential deal are just way too expensive.

There are a few other top-class wingers Arsenal can target this summer who will cost much less.

Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams would be a great option. The winger, who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham, has a release clause of just £43 million (ESPN).

Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise is another player who has been linked with a move to Arsenal. The Frenchman, who knows the Premier League very well, has a release clause of £60 million (Mirror).

Another winger who has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates is Pedro Neto. The Wolves star will reportedly be available for a fee of around £60 million as well this summer (Daily Mail).
