Tottenham predicted XI vs Luton… ‘amazing’ player dropped as Ange Postecoglou brings in 28-year-old

Tottenham Hotspur return to action on Saturday with a home game against Luton Town.

Ange Postecoglou will be keen to see a reaction from his men following what was a dismal 90 minutes at Craven Cottage.

Champions League football is on the radar for Spurs, but they will need more performances like they showed against Aston Villa to land a top four spot.

Players will be assessed ahead of the game with a number of Spurs players having jetted off for international duty over the last week.

With this in mind, the Australian could look to make a number of changes for the return to action against Rob Edwards’ men.

Micky van de Ven’s fitness remains a big question ahead of Friday’s press conference at Hotspur Way – Postecoglou did suggest he shouldn’t miss too much time.

One positive for Spurs is the return to north London on Wednesday for Heung-min Son who shared his safe return following his time away with South Korea.

Perhaps the only other injury concern for Spurs going into the game is Richarlison with the Brazilian having only just returned from injury prior to the break.

He did not feature in either of Brazil’s friendlies over the last week and has admitted he is struggling. He said: “I spoke to Professor Dorival. He understood that I’m not 100% physically fit. I’ve been feeling my knee a little. Even with the effort on a daily basis, I felt it.”

Two predicted changes for Tottenham’s clash against Luton…

Richarlison’s injury struggles suggest he may not be ready to return to the starting XI on Saturday. Therefore, Son will likely play through the middle.

An unlikely starter, but Dane Scarlett deserves a big mention following his stunning international break; scoring five goals in two games for England U20s.

But there may be a change at left-wing. Brennan Johnson was criticised for his display against Fulham prior to the international break.

Although he was hailed as “amazing” by Son the week prior.

Meanwhile, Postecoglou has had time with Timo Werner back at Hotspur Way which may have helped the German’s case for a start.

Yves Bissouma’s display at Craven Cottage was also pretty poor and he has endured the disappointment of missing out on a Mali call-up.

This game against Luton could offer the midfielder a big opportunity to put things right and send a message to his national side manager.

However, Pape Matar Sarr could find himself replaced by Rodrigo Bentancur as Postecoglou looks to mix up the midfield after the disaster at Fulham.

Predicted Tottenham XI v Luton (4-3-3): Vicario, Porro, Romero, Dragusin, Udogie, Bissouma, Bentancur, Maddison, Werner, Son Heung-min, Kulusevski
