Seven ground duels won, four clearances: 21-year-old Spurs gem is truly one of the world's best young players

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a slight blow in the Premier League top-four race after being held to a 1-1 draw at West Ham United on Tuesday night.

Ange Postecoglou‘s Spurs sought to make it two league wins in a row after showing great resolve in coming from behind to defeat Luton Town at the weekend.

Things got off on the right foot for Tottenham, as Brennan Johnson continued on his impressive run of form by opening the scoring for the visitors.

The 22-year-old, who was rewarded with a place in the starting XI, repaid his manager’s faith by turning home from a low Timo Werner cross from the left.

However, West Ham responded well and were level in the 19th minute, as defender Kurt Zouma headed in unmarked from a corner.

Neither Spurs nor the Hammers showed much cutting edge and, as a result, they ended up sharing the spoils at the London Stadium.

Destiny Udogie shines for Tottenham in West Ham draw

Though Tottenham delivered a mixed performance overall, one of the standout individual displays came from one of their 21-year-old rising stars.

Destiny Udogie once again showed why he is one of the Premier League’s best full-backs and one of the best young players in world football.

The Evening Standard awarded him a 7 out of 10, writing: ‘Got forward with purpose, and was involved in the build-up to Spurs’ early goal.’

Udogie also had a chance to win the game for Tottenham in the 94th minute of the match, but his effort from the edge of the box was blocked.

The Italy international registered some impressive stats on the night, befitting of his status as one of ESPN‘s top young players in the world.

As per Sofascore, he won seven ground duels, made four clearances, three tackles and an interception, took 81 touches and completed 45 passes.

At just 21 years of age, Udogie is already playing at an elite level, and it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to develop at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
