Crystal Palace handed fresh injury blow amid new defender transfer interest

Catch the latest round-up of Crystal Palace news, including updates on a new injury, transfer interest and Dean Henderson.

Fresh Crystal Palace injury blow

Crystal Palace have been handed yet another key injury blow as a star player missed out on the clash with Bournemouth. The Eagles struggled to get going against the Cherries, falling to a late defeat, courtesy of Justin Kluivert.

It leaves new boss Oliver Glasner with his side in mid-table and away from the relegation zones, but still looking over their shoulder. Injury issues have been a key problem so far this campaign and they appear to have struck again.

Defender Chris Richards missed out on the Bournemouth match, following an issue he picked up against Nottingham Forest. Giving an update on him, Matt Woosnam has confirmed that the 24-year-old is set to miss two-to-three weeks of action.

It comes as yet another huge blow as the side look to finish the season well.

Crystal Palace transfer target

Crystal Palace are gearing up for a busy summer transfer window as they look to keep hold of their key stars while strengthening their ranks. A whole host of positions appear to be on the radar for the coming months.

However, the latest to be linked with a move is a defender in the shape of QPR’s Jake Clarke-Salter. That’s according to The Sun, which suggests that Dougie Freedman is looking to work his magic in the Championship market once more.

Star praised in Bournemouth defeat

Palace fell to a late defeat at the hands of Bournemouth in midweek, coming as a disappointing blow to the side. The Eagles are looking to finish the season strong, with new boss Oliver Glasner attempting to transform the playing style.

While there are plenty of stars on the pitch, it was goalkeeper Dean Henderson that came in for the most praise. “If there’s one man who can hold his head high in that Crystal Palace dressing room, it’s the goalkeeper, Dean Henderson,” Peacock commentator Jonathan Beck said.

“He’s kept them in the game on numerous occasions.”
