‘Better’: Liverpool told they have a midfielder who’s been more impressive than Declan Rice this season

Declan Rice has been one of the better midfielders in the Premier League this season.

The England international has taken to life at Arsenal like a duck to water. He’s been absolutely fantastic since joining the Gunners, and there are some who believe he’s been one of the best players in the Premier League this term.

Rice is certainly in the mix in terms of the best midfielders in the Premier League, but according to Mark Schwarzer, Liverpool have a midfielder who’s been even better than Rice this season.

Liverpool midfielder has been better than Declan Rice

Speaking on the Optus Sport Football Podcast, Mark Schwarzer stated that Alexis Mac Allister has been better than Rice this season after his fantastic performance against Brighton at the weekend.

“Mac Allister, I have to mention him, what a player, what a performance. You talk about Declan Rice and how good he’s been for Arsenal, and he has been, but I’m going to say Mac Allister has been better, and certainly better value,” Schwarzer said.

Mac Allister has been better value

Whether or not Mac Allister has been better than Rice is certainly up for debate, but it’s hard to argue that the Argentine hasn’t been better value than his Arsenal counter-part.

The midfielder cost just £35m, that’s three times less than Rice cost, and you wouldn’t say that Rice has brought three times as much to Arsenal this season, would you?

Mac Allister may have to go down as one of the signings of the season, and while Rice is in that same debate, the fact that these two players were in such wildly different price brackets is almost unbelievable.

Mac Allister and Rice have been two of the best signings of the season, and who knows? Perhaps one of these two will finish the season with a Premier League winners’ medal around their neck.
