'Definitely': EFL pundit now gives verdict on controversial decision in Leicester City win v Norwich

Leicester City got back on track on Monday after coming back from behind to beat play-off hopefuls Norwich City.

The King Power Stadium faithful were certainly nervy for much of the clash but Jamie Vardy’s stoppage-time goal to make it 3-1 eased those concerns.

Victory for the hosts moved them back to the summit of the Championship table, briefly, until Ipswich Town picked up three points later in the day.

Notwithstanding that, it was an encouraging day for The Foxes, who looked back to their very best against a strong team.

One EFL pundit noticed something that went largely unnoticed in Monday’s clash that would’ve made matters a lot more comfortable for Enzo Maresca‘s side.

Many felt Norwich City’s opener was a well-worked set-piece routine, inspired by Manchester City’s corner against Liverpool last month.

Few picked up on Ben Gibson’s block on Kieran Dewsbury-Hall, though, and speaking on the Not The Top 20 Podcast, George Elek was stunned it wasn’t given as a foul.

“It’s funny with the set-piece routine. The City (Manchester City) one felt less blatant to me.

“It’s a massive foul, isn’t it? I think there are blocks and there are easing’s and I think an easing where you are deliberately moving someone without their prior consent is definitely a foul.”

Had it been given as a foul, Leicester would’ve likely strolled to a more convincing win but they had to do it the hard way and come back from behind to win it.

Though, in many ways, that allowed them to show real character, as they displayed grit and fight, something that has perhaps lacked in recent weeks.

Leicester City have momentum

Leicester now have wind in their sails and after such a brilliant performance against The Canaries, the good feeling around the club is back.

Maresca’s side currently occupy third place as it stands, though, they have a game in hand on Ipswich and Leeds United, so the title remains in their hands.

With another home clash against Birmingham City on the weekend, they must take full advantage of their fans, who created a vociferous noise to get them over the line on Monday.

Five wins from the remaining seven will take them to 100 points, which would surely be enough to secure automatic promotion.

A telling few weeks await the East Midlands outfit.
