Newcastle vs Everton Round-Up: Isak magic turns to Howe frustration as Magpies concede late

Newcastle United have drawn 1-1 to Everton in the Premier League. Here’s a round-up of the fixture.

It was a day to forget for the Magpies at St James’ Park – but it started ever so well. After just 15 minutes, the scintillating Swede Alexander Isak danced through the Toffees defence and dispatched neatly past Jordan Pickford to send the Geordies into early delirium.

But then after 72 minutes of stalemate, disaster struck in the form of Paul Dummett, who hauled down Ashley Young in the box unnecessarily to give Everton a penalty. Dominic Calvert-Lewin dispatched. 1-1 is the score the game would unfortunately end.

Here is a round-up of the disappointing result on Tyneside.

Eddie Howe hauls off Lewis Hall

Lewis Hall is not a member of the Newcastle squad Magpies supporters have been treated to seeing much of this season in Black and White.

Hall received his first United start since November against Everton last night but was unable to complete 90 minutes.

The manager has shared the reason as to why he was brought off.

Alexander Isak impresses again… even gets a record

The most impressed Magpie on the pitch was probably once again Alexander Isak.

He’s in red-hot form at the moment, with the strike against Sean Dyche’s side his fifth in consecutive Premier League clashes.

The strike also cemented him in the history books around the Newcastle United Training Centre.

Shay Given on Eddie Howe

Shay Given, Newcastle legend, was there to watch the Magpies pick up a point last night.

Given other results, the draw has neither strengthened nor weakened Newcastle’s quest to qualify for Europe – which was the former goalkeeper’s thoughts exactly.

He also identified Eddie Howe‘s immediate reaction following the disappointing result…

It’s not all doom and gloom for the Toon…

Amid a depleting scoreline, it definitely isn’t all doom and gloom for Newcastle United.

Howe still has a side of more than capable players, they’re just in a rough patch sealed within a sea of injuries. It will get better.

Joleon Lescott highlighted three of the players who definitely should be in and around the squad next season, even with some potential big sales looming…
