'Integral' ace up against key Leeds man as the only Leicester City nominee for 2024 Championship award

One Leicester City ace has just been nominated for the EFL’s prestigious Championship Player of the Season award.

Leicester, for the majority of the campaign, have been the best side in the division and it has become pretty apparent that many of their players belong in the Premier League.

With seven games of the gruelling campaign remaining, The East Midlanders reside in third place, two points adrift of the summit with a game in hand on league leaders Ipswich Town.

Enzo Maresca‘s side have faltered in recent weeks but returned to winning ways on Easter Monday, as they defeated Norwich City 3-1 at King Power Stadium.

One City ace was talismanic in that victory and he’s just been named as the club’s only nominee in the Player of the Season voting.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has enjoyed a stellar campaign and has taken the mantle as Leicester’s talisman following James Maddison’s departure last summer.

The Shepshed-born playmaker has netted 11 goals whilst laying on 13 assists and is widely considered one of the best players in the division.

He has been nominated for the Championship Player of the Season award and is up against Leeds United’s Crysensio Summerville and the league’s top scorer Sammie Szmodics of Blackburn Rovers in the voting.

The aforementioned pair have both registered slightly more goal contributions, with Summerville producing 25 and Szmodics 27.

Though, Dewsbury-Hall’s tally of 24 is perhaps a little more impressive, given he operates in a deeper role as a central midfielder.

The voting is expected to be razor-tight and perhaps a lot will be dependent on the final stretch of the campaign.

Could this be Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s final few games at Leicester?

Leicester were charged by the Premier League for breaching Profit and Sustainability rules during the 2022/23 campaign and are in line for a second one this term if they fail to raise funds before the end of June.

With that said, it looks as though they’ll have to sell key assets, like Dewsbury-Hall, to avoid another breach.

The academy graduate is the club’s most valuable player, with a market value of £25.7m, as per Transfermarkt, so naturally he’ll likely be the first player to depart.

And given the fact he’s homegrown, he’d be a pure profit sale, which would massively help the club’s books.

It’s a sad reality for supporters, but these last eight games may be the last we see of Dewsbury-Hall in a Leicester shirt, so he’ll no doubt want to end it on a high.
