'Incredible': Ben Davies says £22m Tottenham player has done something 'insane' which has gone under the radar

Ben Davies claims one of his Tottenham Hotspur teammates has gone ‘under the radar’ over the past few seasons.

Tottenham were in action last night as Ange Postecoglou’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at West Ham.

There were some impressive displays all over the pitch for Spurs, despite dropping points after Brennan Johnson’s early opener.

The Welshman built on his heroics from the bench against Luton Town by impressing from the off at the London Stadium.

Spurs will also be encouraged by Yves Bissouma’s display, with Ange Postecoglou labelling the midfielder ‘outstanding’ after a difficult run of form beforehand.

One man who endured a slightly more quiet evening was Heung-min Son.

The Spurs skipper was presented with a couple of half chances but failed to take his opportunities on the night.

Nevertheless, Son hit a huge landmark at West Ham as he became only the 14th player to make 400-plus appearances for Tottenham in all competitions. And it’s led to praise from his teammate Ben Davies.

Davies on Son’s ‘insane’ Tottenham numbers

Speaking to Tottenham’s official website, Davies feels that Son’s goalscoring record at Spurs has gone under the radar.

“If you look at his goalscoring record… it’s insane,” the Spurs defender said. “The sheer consistency. After that tough first year, he’s scored double figures just about every season, mainly from the wing (21, 18, 20, 18, 22, 24, 14, now 15 this season), and that’s no mean feat, but he’s done it, on repeat, season after season. It almost goes under the radar, but it’s incredible.”

Son’s Tottenham stats over the years

Son boasts an incredible record for Tottenham after struggling in his first season in England.

The South Korean arrived for a £22 million fee from Bayer Leverkusen back in 2015 and netted just seven times in his debut campaign.

He’s gone to score 160 goals and provide 82 assists in 400 appearances for Tottenham.

Son will undoubtedly go down as one of Spurs’ best players of the Premier League era and he looks set to add to his impressive numbers before calling time on his spell in north London.
